The Vampire Loves Unicorns
Formerly a resident of Sunnydale and BFF of Cordelia Chase, Harmony's graduation from Sunnydale High was instead a graduation from human life. Now a vampire, she searches to find her place in the world.
Personality[]
Harmony is the kind of person where what one sees is essentially what one gets. She's not very good at hiding her feelings; most people can read her like a book. She doesn't really have much in the way of illusions about being good or evil. She's just Harmony. Although she's fairly easily influenced and easily led, she also has her own thoughts and ideas...down there somewhere. She just happens to be more comfortable with somebody else taking the lead, even if she might think otherwise.
Certain circumstances, though, can make Harmony more independently-minded and stronger in goal and intent, although oftentimes a strong enough personality or will can recruit or redirect her all over again. She's actually a good judge of what is safest for her to do, but sometimes she will choose the worst option simply because she thinks it's the clever option, or one that someone of her status -- whatever she may imagine that is -- is supposed to do. Expectations can be her worst enemy.
She does cherish her friends, and even if she might act as expected in public, she at least knows the difference between appearances and reality. Some parts of life are a grand play-act for her, and others are as vulnerable as one can be. It is difficult for her to move on, especially now that she has been sired and become a vampire; while little of her personality was altered at all by the change, the tendency of vampires of her kind to hold onto connections and relationships especially affects her. While it is hard for her to let go of these connections, it is fairly easy for her to adapt to new popular technology and media, and she is especially interested in trends.
Harmony, most of all, tries to look after herself and sets her priorities according to what will allow her to survive. She is not particularly egotistical, although she does have a strong self-esteem and positive self-image. She is not too proud to accept criticism or, in some cases, insult, though she doesn't do it happily and does not have an infinite capacity for turning the other cheek. She has a unique sense of optimism and hope springs eternal in her, which is perhaps best exemplified by her strong love of and steadfast belief in unicorns.

Under conditions when Harmony has been manipulated, controlled, or pressed, even by her own vampiric hunger, to do something against her ordinary morality, if someone appeals to her better nature, Harmony can immediately regain her self-control, at least long enough to do the right thing.

Harmony has trained a little bit in hand-to-hand combat and is an adequately skilled combatant. She seems to have a good grasp of how to use her superhuman abilities to her advantage. She also is particularly good at improvisation, and is arguably lucky in battle as well.

Harmony grasps the skills of research and investigation, able to extrapolate conclusions from available data. When she puts her mind to it, she is a decent investigator.

Harmony is good at dealing with others when she needs to, despite lack of formal training. If she puts effort into it, she is actually skilled enough to occupy a professional position in this field.

FEEDING |

Able to take the power of other beings through feeding on them, Harmony is able to enhance her abilities in this way. In general, it functions as something similar to an adrenaline rush that provides a boost to standard vampiric qualities such as physical bonuses and senses. This benefit is a 25 percent boost or the level of the being fed upon, whichever is higher or has more immediate priority, and it lasts for generally no more than an hour, but it can last as long as plot demands. Not all beings can be fed upon in this manner, but Slayers, Champions, certain liaisons, certain demons, and a number of other beings provide this boost.
HEALING |

Barring certain poisons or items tailored to be especially hurtful to vampires, Harmony can and will heal from virtually any injury. Even in the case of losing limbs, she can either reattach it in seconds, or regrow it, although the latter may take days to accomplish.
IMMORTALITY |
|
Like any other vampire, Harmony will never die from the passage of time alone. Unless her existence is ended by some means specific to her kind, it will continue.
PHYSIQUE |
|
Provided she has regular access to blood, Harmony enjoys vastly increased speed, strength, agility, and stamina, which are all traits common to vampires. She possesses strength enough to bend metal, demolish doors, and toss an average human a considerable distance away with little effort. She is quick enough to dodge projectiles in short bursts and run at this speed for a short period of time. She is able to fight for hours without needing any rest. Not least of all, she is considerably more durable than any human and able to take significant damage.

Like other vampires of her kind, all of Harmony's senses are enhanced well beyond human norms. She is able to see perfectly well in the dark and has the hearing of a wolf as well as a preternaturally keen sense of smell. This is most especially true when it applies to blood and types of blood.

Although somewhat odd in its noteworthiness, Harmony's integrity marks her as distinct among her kind of vampire. She is basically the same person she has always been.
LUCK |

Harmony has inordinate amounts of good luck in staying alive (or unalive, as the case may technically be) and seems to be able to avoid a permanent end, sometimes entirely out of seeming coincidence.
NOT EVIL |

Harmony's not evil. Not really. While she can easily be convinced by a compelling argument, she has to actively try to do anything even naughty.
SIMPLE |
|
Though in some cases it's a vulnerability, Harmony's simplicity and straightforwardness can be an advantage: she's almost never intentionally or successfully deceitful for long, and most all of those who call her friend or ally know exactly what they're getting. She's easy to like, or at least to pity, and she's often underestimated, which she can use to her benefit.
STRONG-WILLED |

Although somewhat ditzy and shallow on the surface, Harmony does seem to possess a lot of confidence and strength of will -- enough so that she didn't lose much of her personality when she became a vampire. She still considers Cordelia her best friend and has fought her natural hunger for blood several times when hanging around her and other humans. While many vampires of her type become little more than bloodthirsty monsters, Harmony still thinks and acts a lot like her former human self. She can still occasionally slip back into a bloodthirsty nature, but she still retains much of her human feelings and sense of self. Ultimately, this means she may yet have potential for good, even if she is tempted by evil a lot more easily than a human would be.

Harmony has a kind of thirst for power, but mainly she ends up in positions of being close to power without being the supreme authority. Due to these experiences, she is actually very good at being an accessory to people in positions of power or popularity, which enables not only her persistent survival, but also allows her to thrive.

A blood-starved vampire is a danger, just like any hungry predator. Harmony is no exception. She has to fight the thirst, and without a steady supply of blood (animal or human), the risk of berserker rages grows.
RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS |

Harmony's kind tend to be harmed by many religious symbols. However, her high threshold for pain allows her a greater resistance to such objects than many other vampires. Not all such symbols are harmful to her, and not all are equally harmful to her; additionally, makeshift symbols may or may not have any effect on her, and symbols that are not consecrated are usually harmless.

With Harmony, what you see is generally what you get: she's not particularly deep, nor does she possess especially many levels. This can be used against her by the less scrupulous.
SUNLIGHT |

Direct sunlight will cause vampires like Harmony to burn, and enough exposure to it can reduce them to ash. However, indirect sunlight holds no danger for them, and neither does sunlight through sufficiently tinted glass.
A prominent student at Sunnydale High, Harmony formed part of the Cordettes, one of the most popular cliques in the school. With their leader Cordelia Chase, Harmony helped to make Buffy Summers's life miserable for a time, until things started to grow more complicated. The supernatural happenings in Sunnydale touched Harmony too, though at first a layer of plausible deniability remained; eventually that too disappeared, and the only thing Harmony had to cling to was the pecking order she had thought so important. Accordingly, she continued to snub Buffy's group and any who affiliated with them, including Cordelia for a time.
All this was to end at graduation, in more ways than one: the chaos that unfolded in Sunnydale that day also involved Harmony being bitten and, it turns out, sired by a vampire. Unsure of where to go or what to do, she managed to escape Sunnydale and, eventually, wandered to San Francisco to try and find her way in the world.
